Requirements

-
Conveyor belt material that can hold shredded carbon fiber at varying elevations between 0-30 degrees.
-
Hopper/batch collector must be able to hold at least 30 square feet of shredded carbon fiber.
-
Conveyor must fit within a 1ft x 3ft footprint.
-
Hopper/batch collector must fit within a 1ft x 1ft footprint.
-
Conveyor must have a speed of at least 1 foot per minute.
-
Conveyor must not weigh more than 30 pounds.
-
Hopper/batch collector must not weigh more than 20 pounds.
-
Rollers for conveyor belts must be able to hold 20 pounds
-
Rollers must not deflect more than ½ of an inch under load.
-
Hopper/batch collector will automatically transfer carbon fiber every 30 minutes.
-
Trusses must be able to hold 15 pounds of load parallel to the frame of the conveyor belt.

Analysis 5 - Belt Length
This was the fifth analysis that was done for the conveyance system. This analysis is useful for determining how long the belt must be for the conveyor belt. It was determined that the Belt must be at least 4.5 feet fo fit onto the conveyor belt at the required size and length set by the conveyor requirements.

Analysis 10 - Motor Requirements
The tenth analysis was a motor analysis for the assembly of the conveyor belt. The previous design of the conveyor ended up with a rather weak motor with plastic gears which failed, so through this analysis, a minimum specification was found with a torque of 0.18 lbft and 7.04E-5 HP.
Analysis 11 - Bearing Design Life
The eleventh analysis done for the conveyance system was a bearing design life analysis of the bearing that would be used in the conveyor. This analysis was done, so it could be determined what kind of bearings could be purchased at the most reasonable price. This analysis resulted in a design life of 3.6 million revolutions and a basic dynamic load rating of 17 pounds.
